SOLO increases turnover and welcomes Sascha Luft
as new Managing Director
It was a turbulent year for the Sindelfingen company SOLO Kleinmotoren GmbH. This was initially due to a slump in demand in the crop protection segment as a result of the lockdown that affected many countries and as a result also impacted distribution partners in Germany and abroad. However, as SOLO sprayers and misters can also be used to apply disinfectants, the number of orders did turn in a positive direction again. But issues continued: suppliers could not work and so the material flow into the factory was interrupted. The shortage of transport capacity worldwide was also an increasing problem – both for the purchase of goods and for the shipment of finished products. At the end of the financial year on 31 July, SOLO was able to report a positive result: the increase in demand in the disinfection sector meant that turnover increased by 6 % compared to the previous financial year.
One reason for this is without doubt the continuous further development of the product range: A new mister and a new battery-powered backpack sprayer were successfully launched in global markets. The new battery-operated backpack sprayer SOLO 441 marks the starting point for a new generation of modern battery-operated devices Made by SOLO, which will make the product range even more competitive in the coming years. This is also reflected in the excellent level of orders, with the result that the Sindelfingen office is looking forward to a positive but certainly very busy second half of the calendar year.
SOLO’s management team has been strengthened for the new financial year: Sascha Luft will be appointed Managing Director as of 1 August and will then manage SOLO in Sindelfingen as well as the other companies of the international group together with Andreas Emmerich. Sascha Luft has been part of the SOLO team for many years and has held various positions with the company. Most recently, as commercial director and proxy for Andreas Emmerich, he has been involved very closely in the management of the company. This successfully lays another building block for the future continuity of SOLO’s management.
